Imagining a Traffic-Free Future

Imagine not worrying about getting stuck in traffic going to work, school, play or even routine errands. No frazzled nerves. No hunting for shortcuts. No Sig alerts. No standard excuse for being late. You can get where you want to go, when you want to get there anywhere in sprawling Los Angeles County.

You can make it happen. You’re already taking the first step by seeking more information about traffic congestion and what can be done about it. You now know that Metro has a plan to handle the county’s mobility needs today through the year 2030.

The Draft Long Range Transportation Plan prioritizes dozens of new highway and public transit projects in virtually every corner of Los Angeles County. Freeway gap closures, construction of carpool lanes, interchange improvements and truck lanes would complement new public transit projects including busways, freeway express service, and rail lines to handle the county’s population and job growth through the year 2030.

Metro welcomes your input on this plan and any ideas you have for achieving the goal of hassle-free mobility. Community meetings are held frequently and you can even chat on the Internet with Metro Board Chair Pam O’Connor. Look to metro.net/imagine for more information about Pam’s monthly live chats.

Metro wants to know what you imagine. Tell us what you think of LA County’s transportation future by clicking the COMMENTS link below.

I'd like to see a train that goes directly into LAX. Not a bus. Not a shuttle. A train!

I would like to see Metro have enough funding so you wouldn't need to prostitute yourselves by running those god-awful annoying tv's.

so many people work in Santa Monica and a lot of them are environment conscious enough to take time to ride a train, if it just went there. Then again, others are obsessed with their cars and would never consider it. But a train to Santa Monica would be wonderful!

I imagine, the 460 Disneyland Express bus to be more express which means more capacity busses which I think are the Redpids Busses. To be express I think, the 460 needs to have less stops from Los Angeles to Anaheim and remove the Fullerton Park and Ride stop. I been using the 460 buss for 4 years and the busses that Mta has in that line they always brake down. Sometimes the drivers admits that these busses are old and they are the leftovers from the county. If I'm paying a fourtune in Mta they need to update their budget expense on newer busses, I need to be at work early In the morning and I can't count on Mta on a day to day basis to be on time and to keep my job.

Can something be done about the traffic getting into the Norwalk Greenline Station in the morning? I get there at about 6:15 AM and the line of cars getting off the 605 NB is ridiculous! There used to be a traffic cop there to wave us through the stop sign and that helped a lot. What happened to him?
